COVID 19 changed the way people live and shop. Great opportunities were raised for e-commerce and home-improving brands like Aqara. 

With a budget increase for Aqara's in-house marketing team, Aqara was looking for an agency to help the marketing team accomplish two things:

   1. Digital marketing campaigns during holiday seasons to drive sales.

   2. PR and KOL network to improve its brand presence and credibility.

Our team set measurable goals for each campaign we handled -- sales for digital marketing and press releases for PR.

For PR, our research found that Aqara has a weak recognition across technology blogs, home improvement KOLs, and communities. So we launched a long-term PR campaign, started with KOLs and tech fans from TikTok and Instagram, sent out PR packages, and further developed journalists and a press network base. Our final goal for PR was to help Aqara win home-improvement-related technology awards.

For Marketing, we worked closely with our PR team and designed digital marketing campaigns to utilize the attention we attracted from PR.

My Role

As the sole designer, I played the role of lead marketer and designer for marketing. That was because most of our digital ads were graphic or video only. 

I communicated directly with Aqara's in-house team -- their marketers, product managers, and directors. I had a 2-weeks long 'on-board training' with their in-house team and learned about their brand guidelines and products.

Challenges

The biggest problem was: that WeBridge's digital campaigns were separated from their brand websites and marketing. For Aqara, collaboration with WeBridge was a way to try out things and test the 'nice-to-have'. As a result, I frequently get design inquiries like 'surprise us' or 'give us something new.'

With frequent design critiques and constant feedback gathering, I gained valuable experience. I learned how to generate new ideas—in addition, working closely with a client's in-house team taught me how to build on a brand's existing works and become a better team player.
